Guitar Music Books
Are you a music lover, I will not ask you if you love music, most everyone does and almost everyone has specific tastes, but there much more to music than just listen. Perhaps you would like more information on its structure and how to analyze it? If so, let me tell you a very good book for you:
"Form in Tonal Music" by Douglas M. Green, Holt, Rinehart and Winston Publishing Company Incorporated New York, NY, 1965 ISBN: 0-03-46015-7.
This book takes the confusion of the typical study of musical analysis, because it simplifies the harmony and counterpoint disciplines, enabling students to understand how to build without much loading with tunes historic and famous names. Knowledge music without confusion first, is the objective of this work, and so perhaps it is a good first before reading the analysis of music from a historical perspective. I think I recommend it to almost any student of serious music.
The book has chapters on the basics of shape, form, genre and the harmonic structure of the sentence, with developing and combining sentences. Then, the book is written much like a text book discusses various methods of analysis. The student will learn variations, forms ternary, rondo, sonata (very full), and binary forms.
The movement concerto, fugue, and similar genera are discussed and then there is a chapter final, which is very fascinating, even proves that Green really knows his business, as it is in the unique form of structure. You will be fascinated by the amount of information and how you can apply this knowledge when you are finished.
