Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster Standard Review – Worthy Contenders?
There is more iconic guitars of the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster models. Since more than 50 years these guitars have been cherished by players of all genres and styles. Obviously, Fender itself has a lot to live up to when it puts the name "Telecaster" or "on a Stratocaster guitar.
The "Standard" series of instruments, including the admired Stratocaster and Telecaster are part of that legacy. In establishing Fender at Ensenada, Mexico, the "Made In Mexico" or MIM Instruments represents a remarkable value for the buck, but they are often disparaged as being well below their counterparts in the United States-made. Is this really true? Let's see!
Based on my years of experience with these guitars, the main departure between U.S. and Fender MIM Fender is the quality of material more than the quality of the guitars themselves. The tuners, pickups, bridges, and electronics tend to be of somewhat lesser models MIM that the United States.
However, the quality of the indentation, finishing and broad interpretation of the MIM model is much better than most people believe. We recently tested a late 2009 Standard Stratocaster Standard Stratocaster and 2009 who were both "off the bay, and in both case, the build quality was top flight. We could recognize no difference in the playability or quality of construction between MIM and USA models.
This does not mean that there are no significant differences. Again, quality tuners, pickups and bridges on the standard models are lower than U.S. models, but not in a way that makes the series Standard unworthy of your attention. The United States models also include a rigid quality while MIM models include a convenient cover.
However, in both cases, the MIM and Stratocaster Telecaster MIM were "real" case. The Stratocaster could create everything from convincing Hendrix, Clapton, Gilmour and tones, while the spat Telecaster licks some hot country with ease. These two instruments were played and sounded like a guitar that should cost twice as much.
In fact, some of our favorite guitars are Stratocasters and Telecasters MIM model that we have "hot-rodded" for our own characteristics. For less than the price of a new beginning the United States or Tele, you could buy a MIM model, replace the pickups, tuners and bridge, and you end up with your own personal Super Start. "
Do not let rumors or claims unsupported prescribe your buying decisions. Made Mexican Fender Strats and Teles are a fantastic value for the dollar and are musical instruments that we personally recommend, without qualification.
